C~ <br />-6- <br />SUM7~fARY bF <br />THE PERMIT REVIEW HISTORY, <br />THE DESCRIPTION OF TXE EiJVIRONMENT <br />AtJD <br />THE ALINING AND RECLAIAATION PLl,V <br />Sheridan Enterprises, Inc. applied fora permit under the Colorado Surface <br />Coal ,Mining Reclamation Act to mine Federal cog/ at the Hunger Canyon .Pine. <br />The Salt Creek Mining Company succeeded to the rights to the permit application. <br />The mine is located in Garfield County, Colorado approximately 20 miles north <br />of Loma on Colorado ,Yighway I39 in Sections 27,28,29,33 and 34 of T7S~, RZ02W <br />and Sections 2,3 and 4 of T85, R102W. <br />1. Permit Review History <br />The :funger Canyon Mine :vas permitted under the interim program on July 24, 1978 <br />(Permit No. 78-57). Sheridan Enterprises, Inc. submitted an application for a <br />new permit on December Z2, 1980 pursuant to Section J4-33-109 of the Act. <br />Since that time, the application has been under review by tl:e Division and the <br />• Office of Surface Mining (05;1) to determine compliance with the Rules and <br />Regulations of the Colorado Alined Land Reclamation Board and the Surface Mininq <br />Control and Reclamation Act of 1977. <br />On April 21, 1981, the Division sent a letter to Sheridan Enterprises, Inc. <br />which identified deficiencies in the application that were noted during the <br />preliminaru adequacy review. Resolution of these deficiencies was required in <br />order for the Division to make determinations of whether the applicant will be <br />in compliance wits the Act. Sheridan Enterprises, Inc. responded to the <br />comments in a meeting at the [tined Land Reclamation Di~r'sion on Ffay 4, ?981. <br />.Responses to the letter and the meeting were submitted to tt•.e Division on June <br />l7, 1982 and were incorporated into rife Hermit. Further responses were submitted <br />as they were required or completed. <br />Recently, Mack Fuel Supply, a subsidiary or Colorado-Ute Electric Association, <br />Inc. and Loma ,Nininq Company, a subsidiary of Sheridan Ente_^prises, Ca c., _'cr.-ed <br />a joint venture under the name of Salt Creek Minino Comnan y. Salt Creek 'lining <br />Company has become the permit applicant and will be the operator of the `funcer <br />Canycn fli ne _`or this :^e rmit term. <br /> <br />
