The location is at the east end
-- --of-Dearing-Road; abou~ l~mile°eastofthe Dearing~Road-and Squirrel-
Creek Road intersection. The notice read, "JEMA Dogin Sand Mine,
Ogle Bay Norton Sands". I've been unable to find out anything about
this site locally.
As a volunteer with CDOW and USFWS, I've been doing research on
Loggerhead Shrikes (Lanius ludovicianus) in this area for 13 years. The
proposed mining area is right in the middle of a prime nesting area for
shrikes, a species which CDOW regards as "a species of concern".
•~;.
I must register a strong protest against construction of any sand mine
operation at this location. Traffic and construction equipment would
completely disrupt all nesting activity for shrikes as well as other species
in the vicinity.
Please do not allow this site to be developed.
Sincerely,
~c ~-..~ . ~~i
y~usanH.Craig LJ
Cc: Sen.
