The Division determined the
existing dewatering ryslem which relies on a siphon to be unacceptable due to the high level of monitoring
and maintenance necessary to ensure continued functioning, and the potential negative consequences [o
public safety and water quality, should the system fail. Operator is to submit an amended plan by October
5, 2000. ~'
Technical Revision (TR) 34; Final Reclamation Sediment Conyol for 2-West Portals and South Fan Areas
TR-34 was deemed complete Sept. 5, 2000. An adequacy letter was forwarded to the operator on
September 19, 2000, which requested modification of appropriate maps to depict location of silt fencing
and berms associated with final reclamation sediment convol at the 2-West Portals, South Fan, and the
South Fan borrow area. Silt fence sedimentation modelling indicated that the proposed design would be
adequate, and it is likely that the revision will be approved upon submittal of the amended maps. Final
grading, seeding and silt fence installauoo-is scheduled for this fall.
