<br />Permit Revision #5 was submitted for the dual purpose of providing a mine plan for the Elk
<br />Creek Mine and to add to the permit a 160-acre federal lease modification. That lease
<br />modification lies entirely within the current permit azea. The total permitted surface acreage
<br />remains 13,181 acres, of which 7629 aze federal and 5,552 aze private. This approval allows
<br />longwall mining in the Elk Creek tract. The permit revision involves adding no disturbed azea.
<br />The mine site is located north of the town of Somerset, Colorado. The North Fork of the
<br />Gunnison River is located south of the town of Somerset. The mine permit azeas aze located on
<br />the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie and Somerset Quadrangle maps.
