The mean summer temperature is about 67°F. and the mean winter <br />temperature is about 29°F. The Deserado Mine LMU is located on the southwest <br />flank of the Red Wash Syncline, the axis of which trends northwest/southeast, (see <br />R2P2 Plate 2). The strike of strata in the Deserado Mine LMU is generally about <br />N46°1N and dip is to the northeast at about 7 degrees. Topography of the Deserado <br />Mine LMU reflects the structural attitude of the beds in that it consists of erosional <br />cuestas and incised dip slopes. The strata bearing the coal seams of interest <br />outcrop along Scullion Gulch and its tributaries which are located along the southern <br />' portion of the Deserado Mine LMU. The relatively steep 7 degree dip and rapid <br />increase of overburden renders mineable coal in the LMU recoverable by <br />' underground mining methods only. <br /> <br />' (Rev. 12/91) 3 <br /> <br />
