' Mr. Karl Koehler - 2 - May 14, 1991
It is interesting to note that the data from well MW-1, located in the
floodplain and terraces mapping unit compare quite closely with the data from
wells MW-2 and MW-3. All wells intercept first "sandy silt and silty sand,
some gravel and boul der s" and then "gravel and silty sand, some boul ders".
Ground water levels on Septertb er 21, 1982 were eight feet below the surface in
MW-1, seven feet below the surface in MW-2, and approximately four feet below
the surface in MW-3. Permeability in all wells were approximately equal.
These data further support the Division's contention that the Geo-Hydro
identified "upland areas" in question are indeed part of the flood plain and
terrace complex of the North Fork of the Gunnison River.
CDVCC should produce evidence that would clarify the above discrepancies in
the Geo-Hydro studies. Until this is done, the Division cannot change the
present AVF designation of this area.
We look forward to your reply. If you have any questions or wish to discuss
this matter further, please contact me.
Si ncerel
~~$. Mount
~~Reclamation Specialist
/ CBId/ ern
5562E
