•
4.0 PRESENT USE AND LAND CAPABILITY UNITS
•
4.1 PRESENT USE OF THE SOILS
~ The present use of Unnamed 27 Series is (in addition to rangeland), livestock ponds
and mine and oil facilities. The Skylick and Unnamed 68 Series are being used as a
source of firewood in the aspen grove being removed for road expansion. With these
exceptions, the present use of the soils is restricted to rangeland.
•
4.2 LAND CAPABILITY UNITS
~ The land capability units of the soils in this area are restricted by climate,
shallowness and/or slope. Table 4-1, Land Capability Units of the Soils of the
Report Area, shows only capability units VI and VI1. The E indicates erosion
hazard. Class YI is defined:
•
Soils in Class VI have severe limitations that make them gen-
erally unsuited to cultivation and limit their use largely to
pasture or range, woodland, or wildlife food and cover.
•
Class VII is defined as:
Soils in Class YII have very severe limitations that make them
~ unsuited to cultivation and that restricts their use largely to
grazing, woodland or wildlife.
•
•
~ - 11 -
