~ a , <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />• <br /> <br />~. <br />~z~7g <br />3.3 UNNAMED 27 <br />The Unnamed (27) series consists of deep, well drained soils that <br />formed in alluvium from sandstone, Unnamed (27) soils are on alluvial <br />valley floors and have slopes of 1 to 10 percent. The average annual <br />precipitation is about 20 inches, the average annual air temperature <br />is 38 degrees F, and the frost-free season is about 40 to 60 days. Ele- <br />vat ions are 7,000 to 8,500 feet. <br />Unnamed (27) soils are similar to Venable soils. Venable soils <br />have•a water table about 40 inches. <br />Typical pedon of Unnamed (27) sandy loam, 1 to 10 percent slopes, <br />about 6 miles north of Pagoda, 2,200 feet south and 300 feet east of'the <br />northwest corner of sec. 31, T, 6 N., R. 89 W.: <br />All--O to 7 inches; very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) sandy loam, <br />very dark brown (lOYR 2/2) moist; weak medium subangular blocky parting to <br />moderate fine granular structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky <br />and slightly plastic; mildly alkaline; clear smooth boundary. <br />A12--7 to 14 inches; very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) sandy loam, <br />very dark brown (lOYR 2/2) moist; moderatr--. medium subangular blocky <br />parting to moderate fine subangular blocky structure; soft, very friable, <br />slightly sticky and slightly plastic; mildly alkaline; clear smooth boundary. <br />AC--14 to 20 inches; dark grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) sandy clay loam, <br />very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; weak medium subangular blocky <br />• - 7 - <br />
