Long
Division Director
We had not heard anything further from you regarding the water rights information for Lone
Pine Gulch, so we contacted the State Engineer. I have enclosed information which we have
been able to obtain from the State Engineer's Office. I enclose a listing of rights in the area,
and what I believe is the actual decree for Lone Pine Gulch Spring. Do you have anything
additional to assist in our follow-up?
Also, we have asked Mountain Coal Company for any information they might have to document
the condition of the springs prior to 1993. Do you have any additional information to help us
establish the condition of the springs in question prior to 1993? Mountain Coal has apparently
monitored the spring known as "Jumbo Spring No. 3," but has no historic data for the upper
spring. Do you have any photos or any other documentation that would help in this regard?
We had hoped to meet with all parties in January, but competing issues took precedence. 1
apologize for this. We would like to meet with you and Mountain Coal Company soon. Is there
a time in early February that would be convenient for you? let me know.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
Environmental Protection Specialist
DAB/bjw
Enclosurelsl
cc: XChristine Johnston, DMG
Steve Renner, DMG
m:\oss\bjw\dab
