drainage is controlled by ponds, except for those areas where small area exemptions have been <br />approved. <br />Removal of Topsoil and Overburden. In advance of any mine disturbance, brush is cleared and <br />topsoil is removed and salvaged. Stockpiles are shaped and seeded to establish vegetation for <br />protection from wind and water erosion. <br />Summary of the Reclamation Plan <br />Reclamation Currently Completed. The following reclamation has been completed: <br />a) Craig Loa.dout - A coal loadout in the nearby town of Craig was previously permitted as <br />an auxiliary loading facility. This loadout received complete bond release on February <br />21, 1990 :ind is no longer a part oti the permit. <br />b) Williazns Fork Strip Pit No. 2 -The operator reclaimed the Williams Fork Strip Pit No. <br />2 during 1987. The reclamation plan for Strip Pit No. 2 is in Exhibit 24 of the permit <br />application. <br />c) Bath Houses and Electric Substation -During 1996-1998, the operator removed the <br />women's and visitors bathhouses (south of the training center) and the substation above <br />the former No. 5 portals. <br />Reclamation Status of Eagle No. 9 Mine. The reclamation plan for surface disturbances of the <br />No. 9 Mine is contained in Section 2.05.4 of the permit application. <br />Reclamation Plan. Upon permanent cessation of mining activities, or when features aze no <br />longer required, all surface-disturbed lands will be reclaimed. Portals will be permanently sealed. <br />Surface facilities will be removed and surface disturbance areas will be regraded. All areas will <br />be graded to approximate original contour. Topsoil from the stockpiles will be redistributed over <br />most of the surface area. Although certain land areas were disturbed prior to the existing <br />reclamation laws and no topsoil is available, these disturbed areas will be seeded.
