n

construction did not show much evidence of animal passage
until disturbed area become established with re-seeded
native shrubs and grasses. This is an important factor to
consider when analyzing success of newly constructed
overpass or underpass structures. Biq game animal winter
and summer ranges can change over time and it is imperative
that all wildlife species be evaluated before construction
of a new conveyor structure commences. Track count data can
be a useful tool for wildlife managers to evaluate potential
passage conflicts with indigenous wildlife.
The author wishes to thank the Colorado Division of
Wildlife, Utah Division of Wildlife, Wyoming Game and Fish
Department, and the Bureau of Land Management for their
support of this project. Renzo Del Piccolo is thanked for
Colorado Division of Wildlife assistance in the field work
as well as the staff of the CDOW District Office, Grand
Junction Colorado. Also, the author thanks the employees of
Western Fuels-Utah Inc. for assistance in field data
collection and preparation of the manuscript and also Will
Wright, for baseline field work performed during
construction of this project.
LITERATURE CITED
DALTON, L.B. 1985.
