Box 5300 <br />Denver, Colorado 80217 <br />Legal and Historic Description <br />The Sear Coal Company has a sublease agreement with Anchor Coal Company. <br />The agreement allows Bear to mine all the coal in the lease. The lease <br />has the legal description: <br /> <br />6th Prime Meridian <br />Gunnison County <br />T. 13 S., R. 90 W., <br />sec. 17, E 1/2 NE 1/4, SW 1/4 NE 1/4, and SE 1/4 <br />The areas aggregate 280 acres. <br />Description of Existing Environment <br />The Bear Aka Mine plans to exploit the C-seam which is in the Mesaverde <br />Formation of Upper Cretaceous Age. There are other economically <br />important seams in this part of the Mesaverde Formation: B, D, E, and <br />F-seams, with the F-seam being the uppermost. <br />The Mesaverde Formation is divided into the Rollins Sandstone, Lower Coal <br />Member, Upper Coal Member, and the Barren Member. The C-seam is in the <br />Lower Coal Member. <br />The average regional dip of the sedimentary strata in the Mesaverde <br />Formation is 3.5° to the northeast. There are no faults that have been <br />mapped in the lease area. The exposed sediments in the area consists of <br />Tertiary and Cretaceous sandstones and shales. <br /> <br />
