Box 23 Natural Resource Trustee
Rangely, CO 81648
RE: Request for Closure of Permit #M-1995-012
Dear Ms. Kuck,
Regarding your letter received by the Division of Minerals and Geology on August, 8, 2003,
indicating that Cecil C. Powell desires to close the Powell's Gravel Pit and extract materials for
personal use only, you state that disturbance at the site is old and that no mining activity has
occurred since issuance of the permit. The following two issues relate to this request:
• When did the disturbance occur at the site, and who performed the earlier activity?
• Are photos available that depict the site prior to issuance of the permit?
The above information will aid in determining whether the site can be released in its current
condition. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (303)866-
4935.
Sincerely,
~Il~ ~ P /ll.ll~
Kate Pickford
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Carl Mount; DMG
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Acrive and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
