(BMRI) San Luis
Project Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS) permit (Permit No. CO-0045675) limitations
and permit terms and conditions, BMRI submits the following Compliance Schedule report
regarding observed elevated dissolved manganese and dissolved iron concentrations associated
with the June 17, 2002 quarterly sample collection at the Rito Seco Creek s8trface water
monitoring location RS-2 and the observed elevated dissolved manganese concentration
associated with the July 10, 2002 first verification sample collection at the Rito Seco Creek
surface water monitoring location RS-2.
For purposes of clarity and compliance assurance, the applicable portions of the permit contained
in Section 7 are presented below.
Section 7
7) The water quality of the Rito Seco will be assessed using surface water quality data collected
at RS-2, as shown in figure 3. Surface water monitoring in the Rito Seco shall be conducted
at RS-2 on a monthly basis and the laboratory analytical results shall be submitted to the
WQCD in the quarterly BMP report. Water quality samples collected at RS-2 shall be
analyzed for the following constituents: calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, ammonia,
total dissolved solids, total hardness, pH, total suspended solids, cyanide (WAD and total),
bicarbonate, alkalinity, chloride, sulfate, nitrate-nitrite, fluoride, and the total and dissolved
concentrations of aluminum, arsenic, barium, boron, cadmium, copper, chromium, iron, lead,
manganese, mercury, nickel, selenium, silica, silver, and zinc. The following compliance
schedule shall be implemented in the event that any constituent exceeds the applicable water
quality standard for the Rito Seco.
Table 1 below presents the June 2002 water quality analytical results for surface water
monitoring station RS-2. As reported in Table 1 the water quality analytical results for the
June 17, 2002 RS-2 sample collection reported elevated concentrations of Dissolved
P.O.
