There was ao <br />cyanide in the material used to backfill the West Pit and, accordingly, no cyanide has been <br />detected in the ground wares flowing from the pit " <br />According to Holm, in October 1999, Battle Mountain, which is based is Houston, began <br />operating a system to pump and treat ground water from the pit.
