Lochhead
Executive Director
Michael B. Long
Division Drteaor
The Division has recently been informed, by yourself, that you intend to allow snowmobile tours
to be conducted on the portion of your property that is the former Meadows #1 Mine pit. It
is our supposition that running snowmobiles on the revegetated pit areas would like)y result in
damage to the vegetation. A setback in reestablishment of vegetation could possibly prolong
the performance bond liability period for Sun Coal Company. We do not wish to perpetuate
Sun Coal Company's liabilityty period any longer than is absolutely necessary. You also have
indicated. that Lt is your preference to end the Division and Sun Coal Company's presence on
your property as soon as ossible. Therefore, the Division is requesting your cooperation in
ensunng a timely release for the Meadows #1 Mine liability by asking that you resist allowing
snowmobiles to operate in reclaimed areas for which Sun Coal Company Is liable.
If you have questions or need additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely,
~~~~1~~
Susan L Burgmaler
Environmental Protection Specialist
c: Bryan J.
