This process is aCl7!ieved
by heat tacking apiece of : HDPE material over the tear in tb,e
liner, the overlap shall be 6~' or greater. The new seam is then
ground with a grinder to remove an oxidization layer that exi8ta
on all HDPE liner. `The welder itself consists of an AEG drill motor
that will . progeas the HAP£ resin through a heating band at the
end of the welder. The estrudste coming out of the welder will
be appraxim~tely 320 degrees Fahrenheit. The welder is equipped
with a preheat nozzle mounted 1/4 of an inch in front of the die.
Tk~ia preheat nozzle blows ;hat air (approximately 300 degrees
Fahrenheit) directly onto the seam seconds before the extrudate
bonds the seam together. The bead of extrudate is allowed to cool
down, then the Beam is vacuum tested for leaks.
To further our disaussian' regarding the hot wedge. welding
method, you should note that this welding pxoaedure is rarPty
used Pox making repairs to the liner. The hot wedge welder has
great difficulty in making even a large radius. It also requires a
atart#ng etcd ending openfn~ tv enter and Come out of the seam.
If welding with the hot wedge is attempted in the middle of e
panel the cuts A9ade to enter and exit the seam neea repair that
can only be glade by the extrusion welding process.
~;_ _
Thank You
Niles Corporation : ~'~.,
~ ~y
~ i
/~~
~1
. _
A
