LOng
Division Dveaor
Per our conversation on Wednesday May 5, 1993, I have enclosed a
map of the location of the Hawk's Nest Nine. The Hawk's Nest Mine
is a bond forfeiture site, whereas the State is responsible for the
reclamation on the site. Initial reclamation (demolition &
grading) was completed during the Fall of 1991. The Silo area is
just West of the West Mine Area and consists of a coal stockpile
area, truck dump, truck scale (partially buried), conveyor and two
50 foot diameter by 175 ft. high concrete storage silos.
The Division needs an estimate of the demolition and removal of the
two concrete silos, truck dump, truck scale, and conveyor system.
Please note that there are two train tracks that run parallel to
the coal silos. One set of tracks runs through the silos, and the
other set of tracks runs south of the silos roughly 10 feet away
from the structures. These tracks must remain open during the
demolition for the trains to load coal from the neighboring West
Elk Mine. If it is more feasible to relocate the tracks, please
provide a estimate for that task. The longest period of time that
the tracks can be closed is three days. Please also note the power
utility lines that run along both sides of the silos.
In your estimate please include a cost for demolition of the two
silos, demolition and removal of the conveyor system and truck and
weigh structures. Assume that all material must be removed from
site and transported to an approved landfill or salvage company.
Please also estimate the cost for concrete pads associated with the
structures.
If you have any questions or wish to meet on site, please do not
hesitate to contact me at 866-3567.
Sincerely,
'(~1~~r ~ C,l'
Erica S.
