-~-

The topsoil and subsoil salvaged from the loadout has been stockpiled
Into specially located and shaped piles. These piles are situated
adjacent to Highway 82 and serve to screen the motorists view of the
loadout. The stockpiles have also been planted with trees to further
reduce ones view of the loadout facilities.
Railroad cars break from the main line and are directed onto a "U"-shaped
railroad loop which passes beneath the loadout coal surge bin. Coal from
the bin can then be loaded directly into cars. The conveyor is equipped
wtt#r a water washdown system, as well as automatic spray systems, at the
truck dump and rail car loadout bin. These systems reduce dust
generation to a minimum.
The anticipated life of this mine could approach 60 years. Most of the
facilities needed for future operations have already been constructed.
With the exception of the refuse pile area, no significant new surface
disturbance is planned at the mine. Interim reclamation has been done at
the mine and loadout. This consisted of grading to achieve stable land
configurations and reseeding with an approved interim seed mix to
stabilize disturbed areas with respect to erosion. The only permanent
reclamation proposed for this five-year plan will be for the completed
portions of the refuse pile.
