Support buildings are still standings. There has been <br />a total disturbance of 30.6 acres. Areas that will not be reclaimed include <br />the pond, access and haul roads, the permanent diversions and certain highwall <br />areas. Approximately 72,500 cubic yards of overburden material will be <br />obtained from four borrow areas on site. The Helen and Animas portal areas <br />will be filled with this material. Certain highwall areas will be backfilled <br />as well. A 3.5 foot layer of overburden will be placed on the refuse pile <br />area. A total of 25.6 acres will be covered with a six-inch layer of topsoil, <br />using approximately 13,650 cubic yards of imported topsoil plus the <br />7,000 cubic yards of topsoil on site. Revegetation will follow the approved <br />plan in the permit, with rangeland as the post-mining land use. <br />The Burlington Northern loadout has been reclaimed to its former pre-mining <br />industrial use. The Santa Fe loadout has not been reclaimed to its former <br />pre-mining industrial use. It is still a viable coal loadout. <br />-7- <br />
