Since we are relying extensively on the
State Plan, we need to know the type and amount of public involvement associated
with the State Plan. We would appreciate receiving the following information:
Publication dates of public notices; newspapers in which published;
purpose of notice, and; copies if possible.
2. Hearing dates before the Mined Land Reclamation Board; the purpose
of each hearing, and; the results of each hearing.
3. Comments received as a result of each public notice and each hearing.
Copies of written comments and testimony would be appreciated, how-
ever, a brief summary would be satisfactory if a great volume of
'information is involved.
The Forest Service is required by law to consider public input in the decision
making process. We are hoping that the State permitting process provided the
public with sufficient opportunity for comment to meet our needs, and that this
process will not have to be repeated. We feel your process w311 meet our needs,
but need the documentation requested.
Contact Ken Marler of my staff at 636-1602 if you have any questions.
Sincerely, ~-
/ i l
/~] ,,~~ff p/ ~ _1 ~ ~ -~ s ~~
1
VERN SCHMITT / , :. .
