Cattany
Gilbert Lee ~ Division Director
Central Aggregates, II]C. Natural Resource Trustee
P.O. BOX 1877
Rifle, Colorado 81650
r/ /
Re: West Rifle Pit, Permit No. M-1981-006, New Map Request.
Dear Mr. Lee:
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety approved a Technical Revision to the Mining Plan in
August of 2006 for the above referenced site. A review of the Reclamation Liability is due both as a
regular update and also to reflect the changes approved in August. Staff has begun Reclamation
Liability Update and discovered some issues in accurate information. As you are aware, maps for this
site and the 111 c, M-1995-018 are outdated. Trying to gauge what is considered part of the I 1 l and the
112 is very convoluted at best and makes gathering accurate information from them very difficult.
Therefore, the Division is requesting that Central Aggregates please have new maps prepared that
clearly show the permit boundaries, current disturbed areas and future excavation plans for both sites.
Staff realizes that Central Aggregates will incur some costs to have the maps done, but the information
will help the Division accurately assess the reclamation liability which could mean savings in the long
run. Please submit the maps by February 1st, 2007 or contact staff if it appears that the maps cannot be
prepared by then so a better date can be established. Your help and understanding are greatly
appreciated.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501,
telephone no. 970-241-1117.
Sincerely,
G.
