"ESest Management Practices" ("BMPa") means schedules of <br />ac:tivitiea, prohibitions of practices, maintenance <br />pzocedures, and other management practices to prevent or <br />reduce the pollution of waters of the United States. <br />E3MPa also include treatment requiremerita, operating <br />procedures, and practices to control facility site <br />ninoff, spillage or leaks, sludge 9r waste disposal, or <br />drainage from raw material storage. <br />13. "Significant materials" includes, but is not limited to: <br />raw materials; fuels; materialsv such as solvents, <br />detergents, and plastic pellets; finished materials such <br />as metallic products; raw materials used in food <br />processing or production; h~~zardous substances <br />dEtaignated under section 101(14) of CERCI,A; any chemical <br />the facility is required too report pursuant to EPCRA <br />Seaction 313; fertilizers•~peaticidea; and ,waste products <br />each ae ashes, slag and sludge that have Che potential <br />to be released with sto water discharges. <br />14. "Storm Water" means sCOrm water runoff, snow melt <br /> ninoff, and surface runoff and drainage. <br />15. "Storm Water Associated with Industrial Activity" in <br /> paart, means, but is not limited to, storm water <br /> diischarges from industrial plant yards; immediate access <br /> roads and rail lines used or traveled by carriers of raw <br /> materials, manufactured products, waste material, or by- <br /> products used or created by the facility; 'material <br /> handling sites; refuse sites; sites used for the <br /> application oildisposal of process waste waters (as <br /> defined at 40 FR 401); sites used for the storage and <br />maintenance % material handling equipment; sites used <br /> for residual reatment, storage, or disposal; shipping <br /> and receiving areas; manufacturing buildings; storage <br /> areas (in~l.uding tank farms) for raw materials, and <br />( s intermediate and finished products; and areas where <br />~ ~ industrial activity has taken place in the past and <br /> significant materials remain and are exposed to storm <br /> water. /See Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations, <br /> 5 122.26 (b)(14) for the complete definition. <br /> e <br />16. "Wast <br />pile" means any noncontainerized accumulation of <br /> solid, nonflowing waste that is used for treatment or <br /> storage. <br /> <br /> <br />
