Erosion control and road cut
stability efforts have been accomplished since that time. CFS:I's
activity at the Monarch Quarry ceased durino 1981. however CALCO.
Inc. has been conducting a small operation at the site
continually since that time. All areas at Monarch that are not
active under CALCD's operation have been scheduled 4or
reclamation since 1986. A maJor portion of the reclamation
earthworY, has been completed at the Quarry's upper level and
lower areas around the ArY,ansas River. EarthworK and
reveoetation are scheduled to continue this near and the next
three years until all inactive areas are fully reclaimed.
CFkI's current bonding situation has been questioned by the
Division. Fireman's Fund has sent notices of termination for
both the Dolomite Quarry and the Monarch Quarry bonds, they have
also sent invoices for continued coveraoe on these bonds which
CF6cI has paid in full. Fireman's Fund wishes to alleviate
themselves of all mining financial liabilities, however they may
not cancel these bonds unless released by the Division. They
have indicated that they will maintain the bonds until the areas
covered by the bonds are reclaimed.
CF6cI proposes to complete reclamation at Monarch Quarry under the
present 8118,888 bond and continue CALCO's operation under the
current 552,8e9 certificate of deposit held by the Division.
CF6cI also proposes to maintain the present cessation of
operations at the Dolomite Quarry for its full 5-year period
under the present bond. CFkl has been worY.ino to develop a
marY,et for the stone from this Quarry. Should a marY.et develop
and minino operations commence, all activities will be covered by
separate 4inancial surety acceptable to the Division. If a
