A total of seven samples were collected at various sites located to the east of the
preparation plant pad. Composited samples were taken of highwall, fill, overburden, and mine portal
materials. The samples were analyzed by the Cooperative Extension Service soil laboratory on the CSU
~~ campus. The parameters for which samples were analyzed corresponded to those listed above, as
..
routine, for the samples collected by Cedar Creek in July of 1994. Fertilizer recommendations were also
~ developed as a result of these analyses.
The results of these seven sampling programs were reviewed and analyzed for input into this report.
The endemic soil sample analyses provide data for a comparison of the characteristic of local soil materials
?~)
versus overburden materials proposed to be used as a surface cover. The results of the IME work provide
laboratory analysis results of direct importance to the assessment of the suitability of overburden materials
~~,
as a soil substitute.
,`3

P''
~.A
~e
21
ri•'..

h
5
