III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
Date: 9/20/99
To: GEC File
From: David Berry
Re: Telephone Conversation Log
Today I spoke with Dr. Corley as a follow-up to his August 24, 1999 letter.
Dr. Corley stated that the reference to the fire was a general notice and the letter was not
a request for additional work. I stated that I would pass the notice on to AML.
We discussed the manner in which our severance monies should be used at the GEC site,
and I asked Dr. Corley he desired any work at the site in addition to the roadwork. Dr.
Corley said no, and he said focus on the road. He stated that he is "not so worried about
the East Pit erosion"
I asked if the access might be achieved by two alternate corridors outside the East Pit.
These were described as the old (now fenced) road east of the East Pit, and the other was
described as the old two track, which comes to the fan area from the Newlin creek side.
Dr. Corley stated that neither option is good because the east road involves legal issues
and the Newlin Creek is not easily maintained.
Dr. Corley reiterated that our work should focus on the East pit road.
I asked about changing the road alignment to the other (east) side of the East Pit, and he
stated that he "would support running the road on the east side of the pit".
