The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for the balanced management of public <br />lands, resources, and their values to best serve the needs of the American people. <br />Management is based upon the principles of multiple use and sustained yield, a combination <br />of uses that takes into account the long-term needs of future generations for renewable and <br />nonrenewable resources. These resources include recreation, range, timb~:r, minerals, <br />watersheds, fish and wildlife, wilderness, and natural, scenic, scientific, and cultural values. <br />This Environmental Impact Statement was prepazed by URS Greiner Woodwazd Clyde, an <br />environmental and engineering consulting firm, with the guidance, participation, and <br />independent evaluation of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The BLM, in <br />accordance with 40 CFR 1506.5 (a) and (c), is in agreement with the findings of the analysis, <br />and approves and takes responsibility for the scope and content of this document. <br /> <br />Document Control No. FES-99-18 <br />
