<br />Clean Water Act -The objective of the Act is to restore and maintain the chemical, <br />physical and biological integrity of the Nation's waters, (Section l O l (a)) <br />Clean Water Act -Regulates discharge of dredged or fill material into navigable waters <br />(waters of the U-S.) (Section 404). <br />36 CFR 21927(a) (1 9S2) _Resource protection. All management prescriptions shall (1) <br />Conserve soil and water resources and not allow significant or permanent impairment of <br />the productivity of the land; (4) Protect streams, stream banks. shorelines, lakes, <br />wetlands, and other bodies of water; and (6) Provide for adequate fish and wildlife habitat <br />to maintain viable populations of existing native vertebrate species and provide that <br />habitat for species chosen under § 219-19 is maintained and improved to the degree <br />consistent with multiple-use objectives established in the plan. <br />EO 11990 - in order to avoid to the extent possible the long and short term adverse <br />impacts associated with the destruction or modification of wetlands and to avoid direct <br />and indirect support of new construction in wetlands wherever there is a practicable <br />alternative. <br />FSM 2527 -Avoid adverse impacts that maybe associated with the destruction, loss or <br />-degradation of wetlands... void filling of land within floodplains and wetlands wherever <br />practicable... Preserve and, where needed and feasible both economically and technically, <br />enhance the natural and beneficial function and values of wetlands. <br />FSM 2550 -Manage forest and rangelands in a manner that will improve soil <br />productivity.
