Fart 3 <br />• Land Use/Comprehensive Plan <br />7'he proposed ash disposal activity is compatible to the <br />overall coal mining operation currently approved by Weld County <br />Special Use Permit and Mined Land Keclamation Uivision permit to <br />mine coal M C-81-028. 'The proposed use is consistent with the Weld <br />County Comprehensive Plan. <br />Agricultural Lends <br />A determination that ttie Coors Energy Coel Mine is net located on <br />prime farm land, has been made by the Soil Conservation Service <br />(SCS). See letter dated May 29, 1981, from Jeff Burwell of the SCS, <br />Brighton office (Appendix U). As ell ash disposal activities are to <br />remain within the boundaries of the Keenesburg Coal Mine, productive <br />agricultural land will not be effected. <br />Fublic Health. Safety and Welfare <br />No known impacts to the health, safety and welfare of the <br />inhabitants of the neighborhood and county exist. Operations at the <br />Keenesburg Mine ere subject to all Kules and Kegulations of the <br />Colorado Air Pollution Commission and the Colorado Air Pollution <br />Control Act. Other regulatory agencies include the Colorado <br />Department of Health, Mined Land Reclamation Division, Mine Health <br />and Safety Administration and The Office of Surface Mining. <br />• Compatibility to Surrounding Lands <br />Existing land uses surrounding the land to be used for ash disposal <br />is predominantly rangeland with some minor oil and gas production. <br />Future Development of Lands <br />Tne Keenesburg Mine/Ash Disposal area is to be reclaimed as <br />rangeland, the same classification existing prior to mining/ash <br />disposal activity. 'The mining operation has not nor is it expected <br />to negatively impact the surrounding area's future use as <br />rangeland. 1t is anticipated that reclamation of disturbed areas <br />will enhance the Future use of the land proposed for the disposal of <br />ash and for the land currently being mined. <br />Hazards and Zoning <br />No geologic hazards are present at <br />site. 'Topography of the dump site <br />the highly permeable mantle of send <br />disposal area, erosion potential is <br />has not discharged or received run <br />heavy precipitation episodes since <br />the Keenesburg Mine ash disposal <br />will be nearly flat, and due to <br />that surrounds the proposed <br />minimal.
