We ar•e very concerned that this Company made
a commitment to pay us $400.00 per month supplemental income until we
reach 62 years of age and we as a group feel we ar•e no± represented at
these court proceedings. The supplemental incomes owed to these 400
retiree's amounts to approximately 10.5 million dollars .. Should this not
qualify us to be on the creditors committee?
Gue to the fact that the union's attorneys ar•e involved in this
bankruptcy, will represent us? Will they not be in a conflict of
interest between active employee's and retiree's? Is it within the
jurisdiction of the court to appoint a attorney to represent us ?
When we were active employee's of this company, we took a
reduction in pay/or benefits four times. Curing the last contract
negotiations the active employee's were given $1.00 per• hour wage
increase , restoration of holidays , restoration of vacations , a dental
plan etc. .Since then production and maint=_nance employee's have
received large incentive increases , one department through ar•bitr•ation
and two through negotiations.Annuities were purchased in 1990 for• the
eight top officials of C.F.& I. to the extent of $750.000 .
It is difficult to see how this cortp.any is so distressed as to
r•esor•t to the P.E.G.C. or a bankruptcy refere=_ to decide our future.
I rec=_ntly made a trip to Washington G.C. seeking information from
P.E.G.C. pertaining to the bankruptcy proceeding. They were reluctant to
discuss the bankruptcy. We who are being effected by this bankruptcy do
not have sufficient funds to obtain a attorney on a full time basis. We
would appreciate any information available pertaining to these hearings
forwarded to the above address.
Yours truly,
Exhibit "A" RRoI den
~.~~
