March 30, 1995
Mr. Steven Meier
Pueblo County Planning Department
1120 Court Street
Pueblo, CO 81003
Re: SUP No. 479 Amended
Dear Steven:

VALCO, INC.
CORPORATE OFFICE
P.O. BOX 550
ROCKY FORD, COLORADO 8067
(719) 254-7464
FAX 779254-7468
You have asked for a letter describing how our mining operation will be conducted once we are
north of the river. We will be conducting our operations similarly to what we have done on the
south side of the river for the last twenty three yeazs.
The DMG reclamation permit with the included mining plan and reclamation plan will remain the
same. We will be mining generally from south to northwest to east from a point starting at the
location of our bridge across the Arkansas river.
We will be mining with equipment as spelled out in the permit. The mined material will be
transported over the bridge to the plant by conveyor as it has been in the past.
The normal operation has not included Sundays except in instances of emergency.
Valco, Inc. feels compelled to point out that we believe SUP 479 Amended does not require the
review before we begin mining on the north side of the river. However, we should not begin that
operation until after April 25, 1995.
Sincerely,
Valco,`Inc~.
1~~'h.uti`a~,..--
Thomas E.
