Mine Facilities <br />The surface support facilities associated with the proposed Foidel Creek <br />underground mine include the portals, office, bathouse, shop, warehouse <br />facilities, material storage area, roads and pre-existing ponds. These <br />are shown on Map 3 and described in Section 2. 05.3, Volume 1 of the <br />pettnit revision application. The only shared structures between the <br />surface and underground mines are Ponds D and G, and Ditches D-2 and <br />G-l. All other facilities will be separate far each mining oeration. <br />The applicant is proposing to truck the coal to the tipple at Energy Mine <br />No. 3. This tipple is included in Permit No. 76-16. <br />The proposed operation is in compliance with the mine facilities section. <br />B. Roads <br />There is one access/haul road, one access road with ramps into the portal <br />and one conveyor system proposed in conjunction with the Foidel Creek <br />underground mine. These are discussed in Section 2.05.3(3), Volume 1 of <br />the permit revision application and shown on Maps 3b and 15b. Design <br />criteria is found in Permit No. 79-117 under Section 780.12. The roads <br />are designed in compliance with Rules 2.05.3(3) and 4.03. The proposed <br />operation is in compiiance. <br />C. Ponds, Impoundments and Diversions <br />A discussion of the drainage control system as well as detailed designs <br />can be found in Volume I, Section 2.05.3 and Volume 2, Exhibit 6. The <br />proposed drainage control system for the proposed underground mine is <br />actually a modification of the existing system approved for the surface <br />mine under Permit No. 79-117. <br />The modifications consist of diverting surface runoff away from the <br />portal area toward the Area 2 pit. The Area 2 pit will be used as a <br />detention basin to allow the water to settle out sediment. From here, <br />the water will be pumped to the spillway of Pond D where it will flow <br />into Foidel Creek. <br />
