/~~~ i~'~I MEMORANDUM ~~~~I~E~
/ ,J ~ ~, ,
J ` JUL 191988
i ~
T0: Representatives of Interested Groups and Parties ~`~INED LAND
'3ECLAMATIUr.. !~!VlSfny
FROM: Mark S. Loye, Aggregate Coordinator
(Phone: 278-5806)
DATE: July 15, 1988
SUBJECT: Summary of July 13, 1988 Introductory Meeting on Asphalt Paving
Company Proposal to Rezone Land to Increase the Area of the
Existing "Ralston Dike" Quarry
On July 13, 1988, a meeting was held in the Jefferson County Planing
Department offices' conference room to discuss the above captioned Asphalt
Paving Company rezoning proposal. At this meeting, I explained the
informal process to facilitate citizen input and handle possible conflicts
over technical issues (as proposed by the Aggregate Resources Roundtable).
Asphalt Paving Company had previously agreed to participate in this
voluntary informal process. Karen Hellner, County Geologist and case
manager in this matter, then explained the formal application process which
will follow. Joe Crain, Community Planning Section Chief, was also present
to explain County policy. Next, Sprague Mayger of Asphalt Paving Company
made a presentation on the proposed rezoning proposal.
Some discussion of both the County review processes and the rezoning
proposal followed. Those present at the meeting did not have any major
concerns with the rezoning proposal that they felt needed to be addressed
further. This indicates that an Issues Group will not need to be formed
and therefore, Asphalt Paving Company will be able to submit its rezoning
application to the County in the near future and begin the formal
application process.
I will continue to keep all of you informed as to the progress of this
rezoning application. Thank you for your interest. Please feel free to
call me or Karen Hellner if you have any questions or comments in this
matter.
Mark S.
