March 18, 1997 National King Coal, LLC(NKC) submitted the
permit application package (PAP) under the
approved Colorado State Program to the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) for a permit revision for the Mine.
March 18, 1997 DMG determined that the PAP was
administratively complete for public review
and comment.
April 25, 1997 The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) received the PAP.
May 17, 1997 NKC published in the Durango Herald the
fourth consecutive weekly notice that its
complete PAP was filed with DMG.
August 18, 1997 DMG approved the PAP.
August 18, 1997 The Bureau of Land Management provided its
findings and recommendations on the approval
of the mining plans.
September 10, 1997 The State Historic Preservation Office
provided its comments on the mining plans.
September 23, 1997 The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service receives
OSM's determination of no adverse impact on
threatened or endangered species.
October 7, 1997 OSM's Western Regional Coordinating Center
recommended to the Director, OSM, that the
mining plan actions be approved.
