Your memo stated that the piled material in question
was not, in fact, topsoil., and that any necessary topsoil is periodically imported from offsite for use in reclamation.
These statements act to correct that part of the problem.
The letter that is attached to your memo, from Tina Mayfield, concerning noxious weed control plans and
treatment, explains that the site will be monitored and treated as needed. Her statement acts to correct the other part
of the problem.
The "topsoil" problem, as described in my 5/19/99 inspection report, has been fully abated. Please keep this office
apprised of any further importing and use . of offsite generated material, and of weed control activities. Thank you
for your prompt attention to correction of these matters.
If you have questions, I may be reached at the Division's Durango field office: 484 Turner Dr., Bldg. F-101,
Durango CO 81301; tel 970/247-5193 or fax 970/247-5104.
Sincerely,
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
a:\ouray pb ab/rco
