Proposal for Minor Revision to Permit 79-177
Foidel Creek Mine
I. Purpose:
To request altering the designated disposal site for coal
development waste from the south end of the Area 1 Pit to
the north end, adjacent to the portal area for the Foidel
Creek Mine.
II. Applicable Regulations:
2.05.3(9), 4.09.1(1) (.Underground Development Waste)
III. Procedure:
I. Determine static water level and volume in proposed
disposal area.
2. Sample existing pit water for full-suite ground water
parameter list.
3. Document geochemical consistancy in existing core
analyses from Tiekan lease area.
4. Collect a representative sample of roof, floor and
coal material for leachate analysis.
5. Perform leachate analysis, correlating leochate
volume to time of travel in the spoils aquifer.
6. Analyze final lechate sample for full-suite ground
water parameter list.
7. Compare la:chate chemistry to existing spoil water
chemistry and baseline ground water chemistry in
the undisturbed aquifer.
8. Document non-degradation of ground water quality,
as required by 4.09.1(1)(a).
9. Prepare minor revision package.
10. Submit to the CMLRD.
