August Monthly Report - 2002
Page 2
"B List" Projects
• Columbus Mine Portals -Mine Waste Dumps
• London Mine Portals -Waste Dumps
Work, permitting or arrangement for access is not planned until it becomes evident that
the work plans for these projects require implementation.
• Mayflower Facility -Upland Hydrological Control
• Tailings Pond No. 4 Surface Drainage Modification
• Tailings Pond No. 4 Upland Groundwater Diversion
DMG has inspected the sites and approved the projects as complying with the work plans
and MLR Standards.
Due to the scant snowfall this past winter and lack of spring and summer moisture,
vegetation on these sites although improved from 2001, is stressed. The recent rains have
helped but it is too late in the growing season to expect the areas to increase in vegetative
density. Of the diversions, only Drainage C of the Mayflower Facility -Upland
Hydrological Control Project was actively diverting water continuously at month end
although periodically during rainstorms Drainage A, Drainage B and the Tailings Pond
#4 Diversions have actively diverted water.
Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was active throughout August with all of the
flow being diverted and treated with the remaining American Tunnel flow.

The August 2002 monitoring results for; dissolved metals in the AT-004 discharge;
Cement Creek (CC-1B); American Tunnel flow before treatment (AT-INFEL); and
Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge point (CC-20) are attached.
