EXHIBIT D
• MINING FLAN
INTRODUCTIONq The mining of this large and complex tract of sand
deposit is an understandably difficult and complex matter, The
procedures to be used are essentially the same throughout the area, but
the order and sequence is complex. The presence of the Fountain Mutual
Ditch causes additional complexities not to mention the complexities
caused 6y the presence of Academy Boulevard and the steep slopes along
that major highway.
As a brief overview, most of the mining will occur to the east of
Academy with only a little occurring west of Academy. Basically, the
area west of Academy is reserved for the processing of the materials.
The materials are transferred from the east side of Academy to the
processing plant by truck or conveyor. The route of transport is
• through an existing concrete "culvert" under Academy Boulevard. This
route has been used for several years and is very successful. The
"culvert" will remain after the operation is completed.
There is a small amount of material present on the west end of the
processing area and this aaterial will 6e removed as the need arises.
This material, unlike that east of Academy, is primarily the gravels
which generally occur under the sand deposit. It is a rather high
quality gravel, but is of limited supply. Most of the excavation of
this material will occur in existing cuts through the fine overburden
material which is a menagerie of substances ranging from topsoil to
waste materials dumped by various persons.
East of Academy, the situation is completely different. The deep
• sand deposits will be excavated initially in lifts and then along a
working face that will move about the area removing sand and producing
F'A6E 1 OF it - EXHIPIT D
wren-+.,....~.ti:....: ~ ='
