needed to substitute for any water consumed by operations or evaporation, and
sufficient exists to provide for operations now through the end of the year at the planned
level, with a reserve in case the water table does come up and expose more water to
evaporation, later in the fall.
As a result of the water table being so low, we are mining to a lower depth than
originally envisioned for the first phase of the operation, to minimize the stripping
required and preserve as much vegetation as possible during this dry spell. Pumping to
drain water out of the pit and into the river does not appear to be necessary at this time,
so no pipe has been installed yet. Originally it was planned to mine to a depth of 6-10
feet below original grade, with a sediment basin of 150x250 feet excavated to a depth of
up to 20 feet below original grade. This deeper excavation will be expanded to perhaps
four times that, or 300x500, and used for washing. This will then be backfilled to some
extent by fines from screening and washing of product.
As a result of these changes, the screening/washing plant is being located several
hundred feet north of the originally planned location, but still in the six-acre area as
originally envisioned, and should begin operation within the next several days. Its initial
production will be dedicated to base course for construction of the access ramp and
lane and shoulders, in accordance with the CDOT access permit.
There has been some dust generated, mostly by construction of the CDOT access
permit roadway lanes and shoulder, and water has been used for dust control during
this construction. Most of this dust generation will cease with paving and application of
dust control chemicals on the permanent gravel surtace of the entrance ramp. Dust
control will be continued with mining and processing, of course.
If this is acceptable, please let us know so that we may proceed with operations. If there
are any questions, please call. Photos of the various activities are available if needed.
Sincerely
F~O6~R STATES AGGREGATES, LLC
Attachments:
Well Permit
Approval letter of substitute water supply plan
