• i
Narrative
Through the Mined Land Reclamation Division's monthly inspections,
the mine bench movement is well documented. Additional details in
regard to the reclamation plan are provided in this submittal.
Operationally, we have attempted to aid safety by minimizing the
weight placed on the portion of the bench which is the "area of concern".
This area is defined in the revised Figure 2, included in this sub-
mittal. The area that slumped most severely in the spring and summer
of 1983 is the southern portion of the area of concern. Engineering
intention was not to fill the slump area in order to avoid additional
sloughage (see Larry Reschke's letter, attached). This was not opera-
tionally feasible, and the void was filled and graded. This does
allow drainage to be re-established as it existed prior to the movement.
Other repair work was dohe as planned in Larry Reschke's letter.
P1ine Safety and Health has required protective berms to be added
to the edge of the outslope. This process has been discussed with MLR.
Currently, the berm height in the area of concern is approximately
36 inches.
The haulage loop for coal trucks going onto the mine bench has
been reversed to minimize truck weight in the area of concern. The
trucks pull as close to the shop as possible as they come onto the bench.
