-3-
5. The hydrologic conditions within the reclaimed spoils at the Utah Tract
have not been discussed in detail within the permit revision application. The
applicant states on page IV-165 that two test borings were drilled within the
reclaimed spoils area. Casing was installed in the boreholes and both
boreholes were essentially dry. These borehole locations should be plotted on
a map of the area and included in the appliation along with supporting
documentation on the drilling and occurrence of water at theses sites for
review and evaluation by the Division. This information is being requested in
order to better understand the ground water hydrology within the reclaimed
spoils and to enable predictions to be made of impacts resulting from
subsidence of a portion of the reclaimed surface mined area.
6. The applicant should include in the permit revision application well
construction summaries for all monitor wells that are included in the
hydrologic monitoring program. This information should include well depths,
design (including perforated intervals), casing type, casing Freight above
ground surface, and surface elevations.
/ph
cc: Ed Bischoff
Jim Pendleton
Doc. No. 1867
