LUChhead
Execmive Direcor
Michael B. Long
Drvrsion Director
This letter is in response to your telephone call of 4:11 pm on October 29, 1997, and our
conversation of 9:43 am on October 30, 1997. Words used in your call of October 29 included
"using averages for shots that are uniform in thickness". The understanding of the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) is that the record of each blast must contain
(guidance provided at the Glenwood Springs meeting) the total weight of explosives used per
hole, as well as the type of explosive, diameter and depth of holes, and other data as described in
Rule 4.08.5. The guidance was that entries on blasting records for blasts with holes of the exact
same depth and diameter, and exact same weights of explosives, could be identified as such
rather than repeated for each individual hole. Such entries would not state averages, but rather
that such holes (each identified in some manner) all contained the same identical weight of
explosives.
Please call me again if you have any questions.
Yours wly,
~ ~ 2.~..~-~.
ByrotiG.
