monitoring is continuing to aid 1n evaluating the effect of the mining operation on
the quality of the air and the effectiveness of air pollution control measures.
At the mine site, overburden blasting and removal, coal loading and hauling, and
grading operations create airborne dust. To minimize the dust, haulroads are
watered regularly and/or surfaced and treated.
Fish and Wildlife Resources:
The mine area contains winter habitat for deer and elk and in some areas, these
animals are year round inhabitants. Trapper is conducting studies of big game use
and effects of mining. These studies were initiated in 1973 and will continue
through mining and reclamation. Effects of mining are mitigated by improving
forage on adjacent areas, keeping reclamation contemporary and including plant
species in the revegetation program that are valuable to wildlife.
1-18-82
