CO 80203 <br />Dear Mr. Bucknam: <br /> <br />OAT 0 7 1991 <br />tviinec ~a~c <br />Reclamatior, Division <br />Thank you for the letter dated September 10, 1991, from Steve Renner <br />providing comments on the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and <br />Enforcement's (OSM) evaluation of bond forfeiture site reclamation in <br />Colorado. Disposition of some of your comments is as stated below. <br />However, before we can be fully responsive to the remainder of your <br />comments, we need additional information. <br />The disposition of your comments or additional information needed is as <br />follows: <br />1. Timeliness of Reclamation <br />Carbon Junction Mine <br />It was the Albuquerque Field Office's (AFO) understanding from <br />reviewing the Mined Land Reclamation Division's (MEAD) files and <br />discussion with MLRD personnel that MLRD was working with the <br />operator to secure a replacement bond and to repermit the area for <br />mining. The information contained in MLRD's letter indicates that <br />MLRD pursued, and was successful, in obtaining funds to begin <br />reclamation. Please provide documentation, such as legal documents, <br />correspondence, agreements, etc, that will clarify this situation. <br />If reclamation activities are to begin, please indicate when they <br />are proposed to begin. <br />La Plata <br />OSM's report accurately reflects the status as indicated by MLRD's <br />comments. <br />
