One of the revised
Rules, 4.15.1(5) requires each operator to incorporate a weed management plan into their permit.
Review of the Keenesburg Mine permit, finds that the currently approved weed management plan,
Section 2.05.4, Revegetation Plan, p. 115c-155d (rev. 4/01), needs updating to bring the plan into
compliance with Rule 4.15.1(5).
Please submit a revision to update the weed management plan to comply with Rule 4.15.1(5).
Components of the plan include definition of noxious plant species that require weed management,
and provide detail of weed control methods to be utilized. The Division recognizes that Coors Energy
Company conducts weed control operations when necessary, however documentation of these
operations is not described in the permit text. Submittal of a description of your current practices for
inclusion into the permit may provide the Division adequate information for compliance with Rule
4.15.1(5).
Please call me if you have questions.
(303)
Specialist
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
