After discussing this with both Dr. Craft and Mr. Sandberg, I am responding to clarify your questions. Dr. Kohli and Mr. Rosenthal are mining engineers; Dr. Craft is a geologist. OSM's primary involvement in assisting Colorado's Division of Mining and Geology (DMG) in this investigation was to evaluate whether subsidence had occurred or is occurring in the 1 North workings. Dr. Kohli was sent to the site to independently evaluate the site conditions. Dr. Craft was subsequently sent to the site in response to your request. It happened that he was attending a meeting in Denver which made it convenient for him to travel to the site. His primary role was to explain the application of the subsidence model to Mr. Gerity and to observe whether subsidence had occurred in the 1 North working. While there he made observations of the damage to structures caused by subsidence, because he is familiar with damage to structures caused by subsidence. Dr. Craft concluded that the workings had not subsided, but gave his opinions on what may be causing damage to your residence. For the record OSM never intended to have Dr. Craft do a structural analysis of your residence. Furthermore, OSM did not have a structural engineer conduct an investigation of your residence.
