Long
Dwrsion Director
RE: Inspection at the New Horizon Mine for Blasting Violations
Dear Mr. Belden:
The Division has received your letter stating that you believe the
crack between the drywall sheets in your living room wall was a
direct result of the blasting from the New Horizon Mine. The
Division has scheduled an inspection at the mine site to review the
blasting records to determine if any blasting violations have
occurred which could result in the damages to your home. The
inspection is schedule to be held at the mine office on February
21, 1995, at 10:00 AM and you are invited to attend.
The mine is governed by the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. The portions of the regulations
which apply to blasting were developed from the applicable Bureau
of Mines Regulations. These regulations have determined specific
standards concerning blasting which the mine must adhere to. The
blasting records and associated seismographic measurements will be
inspected to determine if any deviations from these standards have
occurred.
After the inspection, I would like to visit your home to talk with
you and to observe the wall separation as well. If you have any
questions, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
~~~~1.
Harry B. Ranney /
Environmental otection Specialist
STATE OF COLORADO
