C-81-038 and uWisian onrnar
C-96-083, Bowie Resources Limited.
Dear Mr. Rudin:
As you had requested in our telephone conversation of April 9, 1999, here are the coal production levels for the
Bowie Nos. I and 2 Mines:
Division's Permit
Bowie No. 1 Mine
Bowie No. 2 Mine
2.5 million tons per year
2.0 million tons per year
Air Emissions Permit
3.0 million tons per year at loadout
I.0 million tons peryear at mine
2.0 million tons per year
The production levels listed in Bowie Resources' permit application for the Division of Minerals and Geology
are the anticipated maximum production levels for the entire mine. The mine site and the loadout are not
considered separately. The Division does not specifically- regulate the maximum production limits. The limits
are listed in die permit application only for reference.
The production levels listed in the Colorado Air Pollution Control Division's permits for Bowie Resources are
the maximum production levels allowed. The production levels are regulated by the Colorado Air Pollution
Control Division as they pertain to fugitive dust emissions. The mine site and the loadout are considered
separately. Bowie Resources recently received approval from the Colorado Air Pollution Control Division to
increase the maximum production limits at the loadout from 1.7 million tons per year to 3.0 million tons per
year, but keep the maximum production level at the mine at I.0 million tons per year. The Division has just
received a revision from Bowie Resources to increase production at the Bowie No. I loadout from 1.7 million
tons per year to 3.0 million tons per year, to match the production levels listed in the air emissions permits.
Ifyou need additional information, please let me know.
Sincerely,
1 ,~~`°-oa~~
osep~i J~. 9~dash
nvironrnental Protection Specialist
DIVISION' OF
MINERALS
GEOLOGI'
ft EC LAMA710N
MINING•SAFETY
c:\ms97\bowie I \nldinlet I
