All roads that were previously approved for permanent retention, except for those located in the Oak Creek drainage basin, were partially reclaimed in 1996. The running width of the roads was reduced to 20', and the remainder of the road surface reclaimed. Reclamation of these areas included removal and relocation of the gravel surfacing, regrading to blend with surrounding topography, topsoil redistribution when available, contour furrowing, and seeding. All roads requiring total reclamation were completed in 1996. The facilities azea pond was regraded in 1996. The pond had been utilized to treat runoff from the upper mine facilities, which is now treated by the Center Ridge pond. The Tipple ponds were regraded in 2005 v The Center Ridge, West Ridge, and Moffat ponds are approved as permanent structures. Surface and groundwater aze monitored for impacts. Surface runoff from disturbed azeas is channeled to sedimentation ponds located in each of the West Ridge, Moffat, and Center Ridge areas. Surface water is monitored upstream and downstream of the mine in Trout Creek, as well as at sediment pond discharge points. Groundwater is monitored down-gradient from the mining operation in spoil, in Trout Creek alluvium, and in the Trout Creek sandstone. With the exception of the Moffat, Center Ridge, and West Ridge ponds, and the privately-owned Trout Creek Sandstone well10, all treatment and monitoring structures will be reclaimed when their use is no longer warranted. Water has not been used on the mine since reclamation operations were largely completed. Water was obtained from a pump station located adjacent to Trout Creek (removed and disturbance reclaimed). The operator received approval for the pump from the Army Corps of Engineers. Pittsburg & Midway has obtained rights for all water usage at the operation.
