Mr. James Dillie

March
21, 1994
finalized, the members within the group apparently h ve 270
days to prepare their pollution prevention plans (PP ), which
are the EPA's designation of stormwater management p ans.
According to Kathy Dolan at Water Quality Contr 1
Division, once the group permit is issued, WQCD will in
approximately two to three months, notify all of the group
applicants concerning any additional information or
submittals necessary in order for the WQCD to issue permit
based on the group permit.
I am enclosing a copy of the partial listing of group
applicants from the WQCD listing all of Summit's min s and
facilities. As you can see, the Edmundson mine is 1 sted as
Facility Code 1024-0114.
Because this is a group permit application, the
deadline for preparing the SWMP under the state's re ulations
for general permits does not apply. Again, accordin to
Kathy Dolan at WQCD, the group applicants at this po'nt in
time are not required to have a SWMP, and those applicants
will be notified by the WQCD of the deadline for pre aration
and implementation of the SWMP. Ms. Dolan stated th t if you
or anyone from the Division of Minerals and Geology ad any
questions concerning this, or needed to confirm this, you
could call her at 1-303-692-3596.
I am enclosing a few pages from seminar materia s that
may assist in understanding this group application v rsus
general permit procedure. Please feel free to call a if you
have any questions. `7 ~n
BNG/rec
cc: Mr. Joseph C. Welte
Mr. Buck Barnhart
Brien N. Geddes
J
